Raul Meireles

Raul Meireles succeeds at Chelsea.
After Michael Essien’s injury, Chelsea were forced to spend £ 14 million to recruit Meireles from Liverpool on transfer deadline day. The Portuguese star left Stamford Bridge for Fenerbahce for £8 million a year later, as the Champions League winner. He played for the Turkish giants for another four years, before retiring in 2016.
Lucas Piazon
Clubs across Europe were interested in the young Sao Paulo winger, but in the end it was Chelsea who landed Piazon for around £5m. Piazon went on seven loan spells during his nine years at Chelsea, with just one Premier League appearance with the Blues, before leaving in January 2021, joining Braga on a free transfer.
Ulysses Davila
Davila was signed by Chelsea from Chivas in Mexico for under £2m. The striker had five different loan spells before leaving Stamford Bridge for Santos Laguna in 2016. Now 30 years old, Davila currently plays for Macarthur FC in Australia.

Mata is very popular.
Juan Mata
Mata is one of Chelsea’s most popular players, having arrived here for £23.5m in August 2011 from Valencia. The Spaniard scored 32 goals and provided 58 assists, before being sold by Jose Mourinho to Man Utd in January 2014.
Thibaut Courtois
Chelsea paid £8m to sign the Belgian goalkeeper from Genk, and immediately loaned Atletico Madrid. Courtois was a phenomenon at Atletico for three seasons, winning La Liga and reaching the Champions League final in 2014. He returned to Chelsea in 2014 and became the first choice ahead of legendary Petr Cech. However, after 3 seasons, he returned to Spain at the call of Real Madrid.
Romelu Lukaku
Villas-Boas was the first to bring Lukaku to England, in a £13m deal from Anderlecht. He then went to Everton, Man Utd and Inter Milan, before moving back to West London for almost £100m.
Kevin De Bruyne
Chelsea signed De Bruyne from Genk in January 2012, then loaned him to Werder Bremen, and two years later the Belgian was sold to Wolfsburg. Looking at what De Bruyne showed at Man City, The Blues fans are probably very regretful.

Gary Cahill
Signed from Bolton in January 2012 for around £7.5m, the England international is a reliable defender and mainstay for England. This year 36 years old, Cahill is still playing at Bournemouth in the Championship.
Patrick Bamford
Bamford joined Chelsea from Nottingham Forest for around £1.6m in January 2012. He did not get a chance to play for the Blues, but thrived after leaving the club in 2017. Bamford is a star. in the Leeds squad.
Oriol Romeu
Signed from Barcelona in August 2011, the Spaniard made 33 appearances for Chelsea and on loan, before being sold off to Southampton in 2015.
Kenneth Omeruo
Omeruo was signed by Chelsea from Standard Liege in July 2012, and was immediately loaned to ADO Den Haag. He was eventually sold out to Leganes in 2019.
